Ethyl 2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-6-O-benzyl-1-thio-β-D-galactofuranoside was utilized as glycosyl donor for the synthesis of a disaccharide donor as a P-tolyl thioglycoside, which reacted with the suitable furanoside acceptor to afford the trisaccharide derivative related to the antigen of Streptococcus pneumoniae type 29 in the form of its methyl glycoside.
