Two new monodesmosidic saponins (Phytolaccosides F and D (2)) have been isolated from the roots of PHYTOLACCA AMERICANA and identified as 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→2)-β-D-xylopyranosyl]phytolaccagenic acid and 3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→2)-β-D-xylopyranosyl]phytolaccagenic acid, respectively.
