The primary structure of the Klebsiella serotype 6 capsular polysaccharide has been shown to consist of →3)-α-l-Fucp-(1→3)-β-d-GlCp-(1→3)-β-d-Manp-(1→4)-α-d-GlcAp-(1 → repeating-units. substituted by pyruvate acetal on positions 4 and 6 of the mannosyl residue.
