Cicloastragenol glycosides from Astragalus verrucosus

Three new cycloartane-triterpene glycosides, astraverrucin IV, V and VI, were isolated from the aerial parts of Astragalus verrucosus. Based on spectroscopic analysis (IR, 1D and 2D-NMR, FABMS), the structures of the saponins were established to be cycloastragenol 3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->4)-beta-D-glucopyranoside], cycloastragenol 3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1--> 4)]-beta-D-(3-O-acetyl)glucopyranoside and cycloastragenol 3-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1 --> 4)]-beta-D-(6-O-acetyl)-glucopyranoside. D-pinitol and astraverrucin I were also obtained.
