Two new saponins were isolated from the seeds of Agrostemma githago L. var. githago. On the basis of chemical and spectral evidence their structures were determined to be 3-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1→3)-[β-D-galactopyranosyl- (1 → 2)]-β-D-glucuronopyranosylgypsogenin-28-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 → 4)- [β-D-glucopyra nosyl-(1 → 3) ]-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D-4-O- acetylfucopyranoside and 3-O-β-D-xylopyranosyt-(1 → 3)-[β-D- galactopyranosyl-(1 → 2)]-β-D-glucuronopyranosyl-gypsogenin-28-O-β-D- xylopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 → 4)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)]-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D-4-O-acetylfucopyranoside.
