A cytotoxic pennogenin glycoside, pennogenin 3-0α-L-rhamnopyranosyl- (1→4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)]-β-D- glucopyranoside (1) was isolated from the whole herb of Majanthemum dilatatum. Compound 1 showed potent cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell lines.
