From Aster albescens, a new 3,28-bisglycosidic triterpenoid glycoside named albesoside-A (3) has been isolated along with two known triterpenoid glycosides and one known diterpenoid. On the basis of chemical and spectral evidence. the structure of albesoside-A has been elucidated as medicagenic acid-3-O-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-28-O-[β-D-xylopyranosyl-(l→4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-α-L-arabinopyranosyl]ester.
