The structure of acremoauxin A, a novel and potent fungal auxin, was thus elucidated. (2S)-2-(3-indolyl)propionyl mannitol, which has been isolated from a mannitol-grown ergot fungus) along with its free acid, seems to be the sole example of a congener of acremoauxin A, although the location of the ester linkage in the mannitol residue of its structure remains undetermined.
