A new cerebroside, named Aralia cerebroside (1), was isolated from the root bark of Aralia elata. The structure of 1 was determined to be 1-O-β-D-glucopyranosy1-(2S,3S,4R,8E)-2-[(2'R)-2'-hydroxypalmitoylamino]-8-octadecene-1,3,4-triol on the basis of physicochemical and spectroscopic studies.
