To investigate the chemical constituents of the rhizome of Beesia calthifolia native to China in order to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of its effective components, compounds were separated by column chromatography with silica gel, whose structures were elucidated by spectral analysis and chemical evidence. Five compounds were isolated from the chloroform extract. Their structures were identified as ferulic acid (I), 25-anhydrocimicigenol-3-O-β-D-xylopyranoside (II), cimicigenol-3-O-β-D-xylopyranoside( III), beesioside I (IV) and daucosterol (V). Compounds I, II, III and V were isolated from the plant for the first time and three of them [compound II~IV] were cycloartane triterpenoid saponins.
