A new cardenolide 14,16 dianhydrogitoxigenin-3-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl (1 → 2)-O-β-D-galactopyranoside was isolated from the ethylacetate soluble fraction of the alcoholic extract of the seeds of Terminalia arjuna by various colour reactions, chemical degradations and spectral analysis.
